FLAG OF THE SECURITY DEPARTMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF LITHUANIA
The flag of the State Security Department is a blue cloth with silver fringe. In the symbolic language, the blue colour means loyalty, firmness, and honesty.
The flag is framed with silver strips and in their corners, there are the tops of halberds directed to the centre of the flag.
On one side of the flag, in an oval red shield there is Coat of Arms of Lithuania – silver Vytis with a silver stylized halberd behind him. The Coat of Arms is encircled with silver laurel twigs.
On the other side, there is a silver griffon standing on the hind legs and holding a flag-track with a Latin motto Patria et veritas (Homeland and true).
SYMBOL OF THE SECURITY DEPARTMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF LITHUANIA
The symbol of the State Security Department illustrates a griffon – a mythological being with an eagle’s head, wings and lion’s waist which incarnates the features of the leaders of animals and birds. In heraldry griffon symbolises vigilance, power, and pride.
